Rotary Level Indicators

Rotary level indicators are proven, widely used devices for point level detection and suitable for a wide range of powder and bulk solid materials. BinMaster rotaries feature a specialized motor design with “de-energized” operation, shutting down the motor when material is present, prolonging motor life and saving energy. A triple-thread, screw-off lid offers easy access to components and dual-conduit entries allow for simple installation. With options like “fail-safe” protection alerting to loss of power and models for hazardous locations, BinMaster rotaries are best-in-class for the industry.

BinMaster Rotary Brochure (1.0MB)

BMRX

The BMRX rotary paddle is BinMaster’s most popular rotary level indicator, featuring a basic reliable and rugged design that provides for simple, dependable operation. The BMRX rotary is a proven technology used to prevent bin overflows and is used as a high or low level control for a wide variety of bulk solid materials including granulars, pellets or powders – providing alerts when a bin reaches a full or empty condition.

Maxima+

The Maxima+ is BinMaster’s most advanced rotary level indicator. Microprocessor-based, it offers genuine fail-safe protection. The distinguishing feature is its ability to continuously self-diagnose, and in the event of a failure – whether power, the motor or electronics – provide an immediate alert via a red LED indicator on the top of the unit. The MAXIMA+ is the rotary of choice when continuous operation of the unit is crucial.

Vertical Rotary Extension

Top-of-bin mounting for rotaries is ideal when the rotary is used as a high level alarm. Solid material will tend to be higher at the filling point and most operators don’t want any bin filled to the very top and need to allow for a specified amount of headroom in the bin. For top-of-bin applications, BinMaster manufactures to the length requested by the customer, offering custom lengths up to 144”.

Horizontal Rotary Extension

The horizontal rotary extension provides the ability to install a rotary on the side of a bin wall,
such as those in concrete silos, up to 12” thick. This extension design allows for rotaries to be side-mounted with minimal risk of damage during operations. This optional assembly includes an extended drive shaft with a protective shaft guard that keeps the shaft centered and BinMaster’s “no packing” seal at the end of the shaft. Standard lengths of 6”, 8”, 10”, or 12” are available for both the MAXIMA+ or BMRX rotaries.

SS Process Connection for Corrosive

BinMaster’s optional stainless steel process connection was designed for corrosive applications and can be used in conjunction with either the BMRX or MAXIMA+ rotary. The 304 SS solid stainless steel fitting is available in both 1-1/4” and 1-1/2” NPT sizes and comes with a stainless steel seal/bearing carrier. Rotaries equipped with this connection are configured so all materials that come into contact with the bin are stainless steel, making it ideal for applications such as food processing or in caustic materials.

Heat Tubes for High Temperature

When the external temperature outside the bin exceeds 140°F (60°C), an optional heat tube can be added to distance the electronics of the unit away from a heat source. They can also be used to extend the rotary beyond insulation on the outside of the bin. Heat tubes can be used for top or side mounted applications with either the BMRX or MAXIMA+. They are available in 8” or 12” lengths in either aluminum or stainless steel.

Mini Rotary

The Mini-Rotary is an economical, compact rotary level control that has been designed for use in small bins and hoppers. Its small size allows the Mini-Rotary to be installed in space constrained bins that still need reliable level control. It is simple to install and use in a variety of materials including plastics, feed, seed, chemicals and other powder or bulk materials.

Pressure / Diaphragm Switches

A diaphragm switch provides simple, low-cost, automatic level indication of free flowing dry materials such as grain, feed, seed and other granular or pelleted materials. It operates by sensing material pressing against the diaphragm and activating a visual or audible alarm to start or stop a process or alert to high, medium or low levels in bins. BinMaster offers models for hazardous and non-hazardous environments, internal or external mounting, and either neoprene or silicone diaphragm covers.

Tilt Switches

The BinMaster tilt switch is a versatile, cost-effective level indicator that can be used to alert to high levels, clogged chutes or used as a load sensor in a wide variety of applications and materials. The tilt switch is installed in a bin, or over an open pile or conveyor using a wire rope, chain or other flexible hanger. When material rises and the device is tilted at least 15 degrees, a steel ball inside of the device activates a microswitch, alerting the user to a high level or clogged status.

The eBob program works in conjunction with BinMaster SmartBob2 remote level sensors to provide measurement data to a personal computer. This bin measurement monitoring solution collects data from up to 100 vessels and allows for data to be viewed via LAN network connections by authorized users. eBob software generates reports that can be used to increase operational efficiency and provide valuable real-time and historical data used for effective decision making.

SmartBob Control Console

The SmartBob2 console – C-100 – is the easiest way to remotely initiate and view measurements from multiple SmartBob2 sensors. This compact, manually-operated console provides fast measurement readings from one up to 128 SmartBob remotes at a single location … with the push of a button. The SmartBob consolecan be used alone or integrated into a network using eBob software. It provides basic, local control and monitoring of a single SmartBob remote or a network of up to 128 SmartBob remotes at a networked site.

SmartBob Analog Expansion Console

The C-50 Analog Expansion Console interfaces with the C-100 SmartBob Control Console to provide multiple 4-20mA outputs, enabling monitoring of multiple bins equipped with SmartBob2 or SmartBob TS-1 sensors from a single C-100 SmartBob Console. The C-50 Analog Expansion Console connects to the C-100 SmartBob Console via a dedicated RS-485 cable. Then, the C-100 SmartBob Console is connected via a daisy chained RS-485 network to monitor from 1 to 120 SmartBob sensors.

Remote Start Unit (RSU)

The RSU serves as a simple interface between a single SmartBob remote and a program logic controller (PLC) or distributed control system (DCS) allowing the PLC or DCS to initiate a measurement and retrieve data. The RSU also provides a remote display and can be used to initiate a manual or timed measurement. The measurement on the screen is displayed in distance to product, height of product, and percent of product in the storage vessel in English or metric units.

SmartBob MUCM

The SmartBob2 Momentum Universal Communication Module (MUCM) enables the operator to tie SmartBob2 remotes into an existing control system is used when performing communication translations between serial protocols. The MUCM has a pre-loaded SmartBob2 application that has been compiled and downloaded into its Flash memory. The MUCM is easy to program and eliminates the need for analog input and output cards.

SmartBob Wireless Transceiver

BinMaster's wireless transceiver eliminates the need for running long spans of communication cable between SmartBob remotes mounted high on the top of bins and the control source on the ground... whether it be a PC, an SBC-1000 control console, or a Remote Start Unit. It provides for two-way data communication and enables installations at challenging sites where running extensive cabling is expensive and unfeasible.

SmartBob2 High Temperature Remote

The SmartBob2 high temperature remote is for applications where the process temperature is between 240°F and 500°F. The high temperature model is configured with additional components that when installed properly, will safely operate in temperatures up to 500°F. A stainless steel standpipe is used to extend the remote away from the heat source and a stainless steel pipe extension fitted with a Teflon cable guide keeps the sensor probe out of the standpipe and level with the top of the bin. A standard air purge nipple allows a small amount of air to circulate through the mechanical cavity of the remote, helping it maintain an acceptable operating temperature.
