Ball Valve Chemical Applications Chart
| This chart is provided as a guide to assist in the
selection of the proper valve material to be used with those corrosive fluids listed on
the chart. It is important that you fully understand the application when utilizing our
Chemical Applications Chart. For example, although the materials may be compatible with
oxygen, our standard valves are not suitable for this service due to the possibility of a
violent reaction between the oxygen and any grease, machining oils or other combustible
materials such as particles from the packaging that might be present. Valves for oxygen
service must be specially cleaned, tested and packaged. Watts does not have these
capabilities at this time. In using the chart, one must recognize that, in any
application, many factors including solution, concentration, temperature, frequency of
valve operation, velocities, and the presence of impurities affect the performance of the
valve. Since accurate and reliable tests of such a diverse range of chemicals and other
materials is not practical, the chart provides only general recommendations.

Although "B" ratings may often be satisfactory for valve bodies, ball and
stem materials should usually have an "A" rating. The seat material should
ideally have an "A" rating.
CAUTION
In applying these charts, be aware that residual machining oils and assembly lubricants
will remain on the valve and could affect overall product applications. For specific
